Our little Munchkin isn't much on soothers. Most of the time he doesn't want one, but then every once in awhile does. We kind of wish he wanted one more. He did seem to like them at the beginning (only the one kind) and then for some reason all of a sudden decided "NO I DO NOT WANT ONE". Now he's wishy washy about it.
We've been using the Soothie brand by Phillips as that's what he had when he was in the hospital. He has consistently refused all other kinds.
We have gotten him some Wubbanubs so he can try and hold onto them a bit himself when he is in the mood for a soother. He quite likes them even if he hasn't quite figured out how to really pop it back in properly. He enjoys chewing on their hands and the sides of the soothers.
